Design Tips for Tourism Companies
Your travel agency or tourism company knows it needs a professional online presence to reach the most travelers possible. Without effective web design, you may struggle to bring in new customers, resulting in your business suffering from a lack of profits.
It's not as difficult as you might think, however, to create a website that stands out from all others in the travel and tourism industry. Here are some tips to help you accomplish this goal.
Provide a Path to Valuable Content
When a traveler consults a travel agency website, it could be for a few reasons. For example, they may want to find an agency that will get them the best vacation packages for the best price. Or perhaps they aren't yet sure that they need to meet with a travel agent, and are doing research. Either way, the design of your website should make a clear path to content that can answer questions and provide valuable information for each visitor.
For example, you may change your navigation to include a link to a section called "Where Should I Travel?" that examines possible destinations, a link to a page named "Why Do I Need a Travel Agent?" that explains what your role is and how you can help travelers, and finally a section titled "Travel Tips" that provides lots of ideas or tips for traveling.
Instead of hiding all the incredible content that you are producing, you should include links to it in your menus or navigation so that visitors can find it quickly. Let that great content shine and you will be rewarded!
Design for Mobile Devices
An increasing amount of travelers are doing research from their smartphones and tablets, and if your site isn't mobile-friendly, you could be missing out on an enormous amount of traffic from interested visitors.
Responsive design is one way that you can create a beautiful website that is also mobile-friendly. Websites that use responsive design automatically scale all of their content to automatically fit screens of any size, no matter how big or small they are. This means you don't have to design a dedicated mobile site, nor do you have to do extra legwork to create a mobile app for your travel agency.
If your website isn't responsive, you'll not only take a hit from visitors who don't want to zoom or scroll to read all your content on their mobile devices: as time goes on, you'll see a reduction in rankings, seeing as Google is beginning to take mobile-friendliness into consideration when it comes to ranking websites in its search results.
Include Strong Calls to Action
What do you want potential travelers to do when they finish reading a page? Do you want them to wander around your website, lost and confused? Or do you want them to call you or email you?
You certainly want the latter. That's why every page on your website should end with a strong call to action. Tell your visitors exactly what they should do next. If you want them to contact you, ask them to do that! Or if they should read another page next, make sure you link to that instead.
